NFL Refs Back in the Game

NFL Refs Back in the Game

When it comes to professional sports, the actual athletes can only do so much when it comes to determining the outcome of a game. Sure, they can put their all into the game and make sure they win, at least in theory, but at the end of the day it comes down to the officials – at least, according what we’ve been lead to believe. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll probably know that due to a lockout with NFL officials, there have been replacements referees calling the shots since the beginning of the season. This wasn’t completely unbearable until an absolutely terrible call was made in a game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay Packers this past week.

Following this call, hoards of celebrities took to their respective social networks to express their distaste. Some celebrities have went as far as calling the mishap a downright embarrassment to the league and all of its players. Despite the fact that we aren’t NFL officials, and don’t pretend to be, we couldn’t agree more. As you’re sure to know most of the fuss came from the fact that the gave the Seahawks a win when they otherwise would have lost. Unfortunately, after such media attention the NFL themselves came forth to let us know that they would not be overturning the call and that it was in fact final.

Lucky for upset celebrities and NFL fans alike, the lockout has finally come to an end. It’s just been made known today that the NFL and the NFL Referees Association have struck a tentative deal. What exactly the deal entails we aren’t sure, but one thing’s for certain; the real NFL referees are back. Much to the delight of many, the referees will actually return during Thursday’s game between the Browns and Ravens as opposed to returning next week as was initially thought.

Michael Phelps Hits Vegas for Retirement Party

Michael Phelps Hits Vegas for Retirement Party

In terms of really defining the Olympics, Michael Phelps is among the first to come to mind. Not only has the 27 year old swimmer managed to break just about every swimming record he’s set out to break, but he’s also the most decorated Olympian of all time with 22 individual medals. Phelps also managed to grab the most Olympic gold medals record with 18. To put that in perspective, the second place all time Olympic gold medal holder only has 9.

While it’s easy to see that Michael Phelps has had a wildly successful swimming career, many are wondering at what cost. It’s commonly known that Phelps’ entire life has been devoted to swimming. This means that everyday for years on end Phelps would hit the pool for hours at a time leaving him little time to socialize and actually live. Following the media debacle that was Phelps holding a marijuana pipe, this all came to the forefront. Phelps decided that he had enough and began partying more and enjoying life. Lucky for Team USA, this partying came to an end when Phelps once again hit the pool just in time to demolish the 2012 London Olympics.

Unfortunately, Phelps has said that this was definitely his last Olympics and that he won’t be anything more than a spectator in 2016. So, what’s an extremely wealthy, extremely successful athlete to do upon retirement? Hit Las Vegas, of course.

It’s recently been made known that Michael Phelps has had a Las Vegas trip of epic proportions. Not only did he reportedly win $100,000 playing poker, but he also managed to party with Afrojack, David Guetta and, presumably, more attractive females than you can shake an Olympic gold medal at. But Phelps wasn’t the only athlete who made it to the parties as it’s also reported that swimming partner Allison Schmitt managed to make the trip. We can only imagine the fun that was had.

How David Beckham Inspired Tom Daley

How David Beckham Inspired Tom Daley

English diver, Tom Daley, has revealed that David Beckham was his major source of inspiration during the just concluded 2012 London Olympics. After missing a medal during the synchronized 10m platform, Tom needed some source of inspiration to continue his quest for Olympic medals.

This is when English football ace, David Beckham came in handy. According to the 18-year-old diving ace, David Beckham texted him to ask how he felt after the competition and that he should calm down because everything would be okay. The renowned footballer also advised him to focus on making a comeback to surprise his critics. With those encouraging texts, Tom was fully-charged for the upcoming challenge.

During the competition, David Beckham followed the proceedings keenly with his three sons, Romeo, Cruz and Brooklyn. Tom did not disappoint; he won bronze for Team GB. After the win, Beckham and Tom posed for a photo that was later posted on Beckham’s official Facebook page. About the photo, Becks said that he felt great posing with Tom Daley after the win considering the things he (Tom) had been through to win the bronze medal.

As for Tom, the win was dedicated to his father who died of cancer last year. It seems that David Beckham is good at offering words of advice to upcoming athletes. Golden lady Kath Grainger also revealed that Beckham called her moments after her rowing win but unfortunately, she missed the calls. She also explained how he has been longing for Beckham to call back and she just hopes it will happen soon.

During an interview with a sports magazine, Kath said: “When the phone rang, I was busy watching a hockey match and the call was from an unknown number. The band nearby made it hard for me to notice my phone ringing.” However, Kath also said that Beckham left her a voicemail message that she keeps replaying to her family and friends.
