Shakira Is Pregnant

Rumours have been swirling around online and in the tabloids for months, claiming that Shakira was pregnant, but today the rumours have been confirmed. In a Facebook update, Shakira confirmed the rumours with the following statement:

“As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby! At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days.”

Her statement comes just days before the iHeart Radio music Festival in Las Vegas, which is scheduled this weekend. Shakira was supposed to perform at the event, but as per her Facebook message, she has cancelled the event to concentrate on her personal life. Shakira has been dating Gerard Pique, a pro soccer player, for a little over a year. The two are not married, however marriage is definitely a possibility in light of this recent news.

In other news related to Shakira, NBC confirmed earlier this week that she, along with Usher, would be guest judges on the upcoming season of “The Voice.” We’re curious as to how her the birth of her child will impact her role on the show.
