Madonna Booed after Concert in Paris
Last night, while performing in the l’Olympia Club in Paris, Madonna was met with boos and shouts demanding a refund after her concert lasted a mere 45 minutes. The intimate show of only 2700 die hard fans, many of whom had camped out in front of the club for as long as two days before, began at 10:15pm and abruptly ended 45 minutes later, when the singer left the stage.
Upon leaving the stage, boos and shouts demanding a refund came from the audience, who were incredibly disappointed with the short performance. To make matters worse, the show was streamed live on Youtube, where it received more than 12,000 dislikes in a matter of minutes.
The show has since become a public relations nightmare, with fans demanding their money back, Youtube blocking comments on the video due to their overly negative nature, and thousands of tweets going around the Twitterverse. One Twitter user tweeter “280 Euros for a seat, 40 minute show, 2 days camping out, Madonna Sucks!!!”
The Paris concert was added to Madonna’s schedule at the last minute, when Madonna felt that she should host a concert in France to help ease relations with the country’s far right party, which is threatening to sue the singer for showing their party leader in a music video, along with a swastika. Madonna’s intention for the concert was to promote tolerance, however it seems to have done the exact opposite, with thousands of fans expressing their anger towards the singer.
This latest controversy comes just days after Madonna unexpectedly cancelled the Australian portion of her tour, angering fans there.
