Snoop Dogg becomes Snoop Lion
You may not believe it but if you are a fan of Snoop Dogg’s rap music, then you have no choice but to cope with his latest genre; reggae music. The rapper caused quite a stir when he announced that he will no longer be rapping his way to fame. Instead, reggae is his new genre.
Introducing Snoop Lion
Now, not only is Snoop Dogg singing reggae; he is also changing his name. He publicly announced that his new name is Snoop Lion! The former rap superstar was quoted saying, “Rap is not challenging to me.”
He also acknowledged the fact that he had won so many accolades in rap and it was now time to try something new. According to media reports, the 41-year-old rapper was quoted saying; “I do not disrespect my fellow rappers.”
He added, “I’ve won so many accolades in rap music, people call me “Uncle Snoop”. When you become an uncle, it is the right time to find newer things. I want to feel young again.”
He also joked that he will not be representing “Snoop Dog” in his reggae music; he wants to bury “Snoop Dogg” and create “Snoop Lion” in him. The American rapper explained how he went to the temple then the High Priest asked him his name. When he replied that he was called Snoop Dogg, the High Priest replied, “You are the light; you are the lion.”
