Photos: Diamond Ann Marshall is 6 year-old Cancer Patient From Calgary who Melted Kate Middleton’s heart
Meet Diamond Ann Marshall, she is the brave 6 year-old girl who is battling with cancer and got her wish of meeting Kate Middleton in Calgary, she is not an ordinary girl she is a fighter and her story is heartbreaking check it out!!
Diamond Ann Marshall was born on June 15, 2005 in Canada she is the eldest child of Lyall Marshall and only daughter Memory Ann Marshall from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Diamond’s parents got married on June 26, 2004, her mother Memory died when Diamond was just two, Mrs.Marshall lost her battle to cancer at age 32. Her 37 year-old father remarried to a wonderful woman 32 year-old Danielle Huisman who loves Diamond like her on daughter.
Mr. Marshall and his wife gave Diamond a baby sister Freya now 23 months-old but on February, 2011 they received the most terrible news Diamond was diagnosed with Stage 4 Undifferentiated Sarcoma, according to Cincinnati Children’s this kind of cancer is very rare childhood cancer, the symptoms may vary according to the area of the body that is involved. Pain or swelling in that area may be seen. When the tumor gets large enough, it may start to press on other organs and cause swelling, pain, or compression (blockage). If other organs are compressed, they may not work as well as they should. For example, if a sarcoma occurs in the abdomen, it may press down on the intestines and cause constipation.
Since her diagnosis Diamond Marshall has spend in and out of the hospital, surgeries, chemotherapy that caused her to loose all of her blonde hair, but even so this sweet fighter continued to smile specially when it comes to fairy tale princess her favorite is Disney’ Sleeping Beauty, Princess Aurora, her dream is to go to Disneyland and have lunch with Princess Aurora but then Danielle after finding out that Prince William and Kate Middleton would be in Calgary, Diamond could meet a real Princess, the Duchess of Cambridge, so she called Canada’s Children’s Wish Foundation told them Diamond’s story and asked them to made her stepdaughters dream come true, her husband aware of his daughter’s wishes joined Danielle and he also wrote them a letter….
‘We realize she may not have the chance to go to Disneyland where she wants to lunch with Princess Aurora of the fabled story Sleeping Beauty. Should the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge just happen to swing by for a little visit, it would go a long way for helping her spirits, her surrounding family and friends. She is in awe of Princess Kate’s fairytale-like story.’
Diamond also wrote Kate a beautiful, touching letter..
‘Dear Princess Kate. My name is Diamond Ann. I am six. I was named after Princess Diana. My Mommy Memory is in heaven with her. I have cancer. I spend a lot of time at the hospital. I watched you get married from my bed there. You looked pretty.
‘I like playing Princess dress up. My favorite princess is Aurora. Who is yours. I would really like to meet you. Do you wait [sic] to meet me too? ‘
And so it was that in June they receive “The Call” Diamond has been chosen to give Kate a bouquet, but they were told to keep it a secret. Soon the big day came and our little warrior princess was ready, she looked so pretty in her dress, and she prepared Kate a surprise, it was a friendship bracelet she made herself, which she placed in a a heart-shaped trinket box.
When The Duke and Duchess arrived in Calgary two days ago, Diamond Marshall was ready with a beautiful bouquet in her hand, once Kate was in front of her little Diamond was so thrilled that she also flung to Kate arms, the Duchess couldn’t he happier.
Danielle was by Diamond’s side and she tells media about the emotional moment..
“The Duchess complimented Diamond’s dress. She said Catherine was ‘so lovely and so gracious. For a little girl who has dreamed of meeting a princess it was a dream come true. This is so great for her health – it’s such a boost for her emotionally, and for her strength. Her tumor is shrinking. She is scheduled for further surgery in mid-August
Diamond said Princess Kate told her she loved the flowers and that she found the Princess as fancier as she looks in television and added that Prince William was a little bit handsome.
