Jennifer Lopez Sues Chaffeur for $20,000,000

You wouldn’t imagine that most chaffeurs would be worth millions, but it seems that Jennifer Lopez thinks hers is. Today it was announced that Jennifer Lopez has filed a lawsuit against her former chaffeur, in the amount of $20 million.

Lopez is claiming that her former driver, Hakob Manoukian threatened to share potentially damaging information about her, unless she gave into his demands of paying him $2.8 million. Apparently the driver had overheard sensitive information, which he was planning on using to blackmail the star.

The lawsuit comes in response to a separate lawsuit filed by the driver himself, claiming breach of contract by Lopez for prematurely terminating her contract with the driver. According to court documents, the business relationship between the two went sour in March after her driver disagreed with the selection of a security team that was selected by Lopez, rather than the team recommended by Manoukian. At that point, the driver apparently became “Hostile and angry.”

According to Lopez, the driving agreement was terminated by the driver, not her. As a result of the blackmail threat, Lopez believes that she is entitled to $20 million, in actual damages, for “Irreparable injury” that has been caused. This one should be interesting if it makes it to the courts!
