Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise Agree on Divorce Settlement

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise Agree on Divorce Settlement

Two weeks ago the controversy began when Katie Holmes filed for divorce from her husband, Tom Cruise. It all started when Katie Holmes travelled to New York city to begin divorce proceedings, which lead to a string of accusations, conspiracy theories and a belief that Katie Holmes was being followed by high ranking officials from the “Church” of Scientology. Today, we are happy to announce that the couple has come to an agreement on the divorce and agree on a fair settlement.

Details about the settlement have not been released to the public, but the former couple released a joint statement on July 9th saying that the settlement focuses largely on protecting their daughter, Suri, and ensuring that she receives the best possible support from both of her parents. Sources have stated that the settlement includes some sort of agreement that will see Suri living in New York with her mother, Katie, while Tom Cruise is given frequent visitation rights.

Since going to New York to file for divorce, Katie has been living with Suri in a 3 bedroom Manhattan apartment. Tom Cruise has been living in his Los Angeles mansion with his two remaining teenage children, Connor and Bella.

There was much speculation that the reason for the divorce was Tom Cruise’s strong belief in Scientology and his plans for the couple’s daughter. The situation became even more complicated when Cruise threw accusations at Holmes, stating that she was making a spectacle out of the divorce and dragging him down through the media. Cruise also stated that he was completely blindsided by the divorce, and had no idea it was coming, while it appears that Katie had been making plans for the divorce for a few weeks.

In a recent statement, Katie Holmes has stated that she is happy to be embarking on a new chapter in her life.
