Drinking and driving has long been a serious violation of law. Hundreds are arrested for drunk driving all over United States and the European countries. Celebrities being no exception are time and again arrested for drunk driving. Most of the people across America and world-wide think that celebrities always have an easy escape in such situations. An attorney was none the less required by a celebrity too. The cases given below depict a clear picture of what happens when a star is caught on drinking and driving. Matthew Fox
Recognized widely as Dr Jack Shephard of ABC American television series LOST, the star was found driving drunk on an early Friday morning near his residence in Bend, Oregon. The hero from LOST had a passenger in the car and was driving to a fast food restaurant at 3:23am in the morning when the authorities stopped him over for the arrest. He was driving without a license and was not maintaining lane discipline and using appropriate signals while driving. The actor struck a deal with the prosecutors to keep him out of jail. Fox was ordered to enter a special treatment program and is not required to drink alcohol for one year.
Amanda Bynes
Known as the fifth highest paid celebrity under 21years, Amanda Bynes is a hot American, star, singer, fashion designer, actress as well as a DUI offender. The actress was arrested on April 6th at 3am in the morning. Upon arrest, the star denied being drunk and refused to take a breathalyzer. Moreover, in her tweet, Bynes requested Obama to fire the cop who arrested her on her claim that “I don’t drink”. Amanda, known best for several successful television series including Nickelodeon shows, All That and The Amanda Show, entered a non guilty plea via her lawyer. Days after her DUI she was also allegedly involved in a hit and run but no charges were filed. If convicted, the 26 year old will face 48 hours to up to 6 months in prison.
NBA Star Jason Kidd
The 39 year old American professional basketball point guard for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association was lucky to have survived after he crashed his SUV in a telephone pole. Jason kidd was so much intoxicated that he required support to get out of the club where he spent the night partying. Multiple witnesses reported how Kidd tried to hang from a club light and broke it. Despite constant efforts from friends discouraging him to drive, Jason ended up driving himself and banged his car half an hour later. After the accident, he was rushed to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and was later forwarded to the police for processing.
Kerry Kennedy
Daughter of former attorney general Robert F. Kennedy, and ex-wife of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, was arrested for driving under the influence on July 13.The human right activist and writer was charged for DUI while she slammed into a tractor trailer. However, Kennedy swears that she was not under the influence. She appeared in the North Castle Town Court and pleaded non guilty claiming that sleep driving was due to the seizure which was caused by the drug Ambien used to treat insomnia.
Jenna Jameson
The 38 year old ex-porn star was taken into custody when she suffered minor injuries during a car accident which lead her range rover struck in a light pole. She was charged with driving under the influence by Westminster police. She was also driving on a suspended license and her blood alcohol level was over the state legal limit.
All these celebrities have one thing in common; being drunk and driving and diving into charges. The question then comes to what happened to their driving licenses, when were they freely and without any obligation allowed to drive again. This question varies from person to person and in this case from celebrity to celebrity. The life of a celebrity does come with its perks but attorneys are needed in any case what so ever.
