How David Beckham Inspired Tom Daley

English diver, Tom Daley, has revealed that David Beckham was his major source of inspiration during the just concluded 2012 London Olympics. After missing a medal during the synchronized 10m platform, Tom needed some source of inspiration to continue his quest for Olympic medals.

This is when English football ace, David Beckham came in handy. According to the 18-year-old diving ace, David Beckham texted him to ask how he felt after the competition and that he should calm down because everything would be okay. The renowned footballer also advised him to focus on making a comeback to surprise his critics. With those encouraging texts, Tom was fully-charged for the upcoming challenge.

During the competition, David Beckham followed the proceedings keenly with his three sons, Romeo, Cruz and Brooklyn. Tom did not disappoint; he won bronze for Team GB. After the win, Beckham and Tom posed for a photo that was later posted on Beckham’s official Facebook page. About the photo, Becks said that he felt great posing with Tom Daley after the win considering the things he (Tom) had been through to win the bronze medal.

As for Tom, the win was dedicated to his father who died of cancer last year. It seems that David Beckham is good at offering words of advice to upcoming athletes. Golden lady Kath Grainger also revealed that Beckham called her moments after her rowing win but unfortunately, she missed the calls. She also explained how he has been longing for Beckham to call back and she just hopes it will happen soon.

During an interview with a sports magazine, Kath said: “When the phone rang, I was busy watching a hockey match and the call was from an unknown number. The band nearby made it hard for me to notice my phone ringing.” However, Kath also said that Beckham left her a voicemail message that she keeps replaying to her family and friends.
