Michael Phelps Hits Vegas for Retirement Party

Michael Phelps Hits Vegas for Retirement Party

In terms of really defining the Olympics, Michael Phelps is among the first to come to mind. Not only has the 27 year old swimmer managed to break just about every swimming record he’s set out to break, but he’s also the most decorated Olympian of all time with 22 individual medals. Phelps also managed to grab the most Olympic gold medals record with 18. To put that in perspective, the second place all time Olympic gold medal holder only has 9.

While it’s easy to see that Michael Phelps has had a wildly successful swimming career, many are wondering at what cost. It’s commonly known that Phelps’ entire life has been devoted to swimming. This means that everyday for years on end Phelps would hit the pool for hours at a time leaving him little time to socialize and actually live. Following the media debacle that was Phelps holding a marijuana pipe, this all came to the forefront. Phelps decided that he had enough and began partying more and enjoying life. Lucky for Team USA, this partying came to an end when Phelps once again hit the pool just in time to demolish the 2012 London Olympics.

Unfortunately, Phelps has said that this was definitely his last Olympics and that he won’t be anything more than a spectator in 2016. So, what’s an extremely wealthy, extremely successful athlete to do upon retirement? Hit Las Vegas, of course.

It’s recently been made known that Michael Phelps has had a Las Vegas trip of epic proportions. Not only did he reportedly win $100,000 playing poker, but he also managed to party with Afrojack, David Guetta and, presumably, more attractive females than you can shake an Olympic gold medal at. But Phelps wasn’t the only athlete who made it to the parties as it’s also reported that swimming partner Allison Schmitt managed to make the trip. We can only imagine the fun that was had.
