Britney Spears – The New Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell has built a reputation as being the rudest and nastiest television competition judge. Since his days on American Idol, he has been known as the honest judge who would always tell it like it is, regardless of who’s feelings he hurt. Now, it seems that he may have some competition.
On judge’s panel for “The X Factor,” Britney Spears has developed a reputation for being nasty, with remarks such as “Who let you on stage,” and “You destroyed that song.” In a recent interview, Simon Cowell has agreed that Britney seems to have taken the role of the “mean” judge. He joked that Britney is as sweet as a lemon.
The X-Factor judges panel consists of Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Simon Cowell and Antonio Reid. When asked about her “mean attitude” on the show, Britney stated that she feels she is “just a very honest person” who wants to help young singers break into the music business. By being honest, she feels that she is helping aspiring singers in an increasingly challenging industry. “I think that giving back to an industry that has given me so much is really interesting,” stated Britney Spears, who explained that helping up and coming singers was the main reason she took the job. Critics however are quick to point out that the $15 million salary probably had a bigger impact on her decision.
Britney Spears and Demi Lovato were brought onto the show in an attempt to attract a younger audience and boost ratings. Thus far, it seems to have been working. You can check out the X-Factor weeknights on Fox.
