Nicki Minaj Likely to Join American Idol

Nicki Minaj Likely to Join American Idol

Every day we are bombarded with rumors of a new celebrity who is said to be joining the cast of American Idol as a judge. Unfortunately, as is usually the case with rumors, many of these tidbits tend to be false. In fact, as of now, the only judge that confirmed to be joining Randy Jackson in season 12 is none other than Mariah Carey. With both Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler saying goodbye after season 11, that leaves at least one more seat for a start studded judge to fill.

While most rumors tend to be false, as mentioned above, it seems that one has arose that actually has some backing. According to recent reports, Nicki Minaj is in the final stages of negotiating her contract to act as a judge in season 12 of American Idol. If you’re not familiar with Nicki Minaj, she recently broke onto the scene as a rapper/singer appearing on many hit singles with the likes of Lil Wayne, Drake and more with her debut album Pink Friday gaining Platinum certification from the RIAA.

But, before you get too excited, make note that Nicki Minaj has yet to come forth and officially confirm that she will in fact be acting as a judge. However, there are some interesting things to take note of that make this rumor hard to shake. Apparently, while Nicki Minaj is looking to move forward as a judge, she is having a hard time finalizing the contract. Much of this fuss comes from the fact that she is endorsed by Pepsi. Normally this wouldn’t be much of a problem except for the fact that Coca Cola has long been a major sponsor of American Idol – Pepsi’s biggest rival.

Luckily it seems that this will be nothing more than a small bump on the road to American Idol. Our sources point towards Jennifer Lopez’s contract with Fiat that originally caused some fuss due to American Idol being sponsored by Ford only to be quickly resolved.

Unfortunately, as already mentioned, we have been unable to confirm these rumors. On that note, take them with a grain of salt until anyone officially involved with the matter comes forth to say more.
