Anderson Cooper Admits He Is Gay

Over the years, Anderson Cooper has denied rumours that he was gay and has pretty much avoided the topic as it came up. Now, in a shocking email that was sent to blogger Andrew Sullivan over the weekend, Cooper has admitted that he is gay, always has been gay, and in his words “Always will be gay”. While this isn’t much of a surprise, as thousands of people have suspected it all along, it is interesting that he has finally admitted it.

Apparently the reason that Anderson decided to come out of the closet and admit that he was gay was because he didn’t want it to appear that he was ashamed of it and trying to hide something. As he has avoided the topic over the years, it has given the impression that he didn’t want the public to know about it. In 2006, when he was asked whether or not he was gay, he stated “I understand why people might be interested. But I just don’t talk about my personal life. It’s a decision I made a long time ago, before I ever even knew anyone would be interested in my personal life.”

Despite his desire to discussing his personal life, many have posted articles over the years suggesting that he was gay. For example, in 2007, Out Magazine placed him as second in the list of America’s most powerful gay men. Nevertheless, despite the numerous articles that were based on speculation, Cooper has been swerving away from the question in interviews with reporters. That was the case, until July 2nd, 2012, when he decided that he would come out and make it public.

Anderson Cooper is currently 45 years old and lives in New York City. He is a graduate of Yale University.
